The New York Times reviews Paul Taylor’s dance, “Brief Encounters”.
Reviewer Alastair Macaulay writes:
In the world premiere on Friday at the Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter here — the work was commissioned by Syracuse University and was accompanied by live music by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David LaMarche — the scenes altered like images in clouds. The dancers, beautifully adult and near naked in trim black underwear (by Santo Loquasto), passed through transient scenes of sexual desire, emotional perplexity and more.
I love the dance – especially when performed “near naked in trim black underwear”.
